Estate Install - But I Still Want To Use Boot - Suggestions?

Featured Replies

Hi. I've got the mk2 Octavia 4x4 estate and i wouldn't mind putting in a better sound setup. I've already installed my old Alpine XD-001, but haven't touched the speakers. I like the idea of a sub and amp set up, but i would still need to use the boot with seats down. The car was bought for carrying bikes! I've seen installs where the sub is mounted behind the rear arch in the side in other cars, passat, golf, etc. Anyone got any pics of an Octavia install? I'm thinking amp in one side, sub in other. I also need to upgrade speakers at some point.

I'm not looking for out and out bass, just a good healthy clear sound. Cheers :)

Cheers vwdan, hadn't thought about those. What are they like? I presume i'd need another amp for the car speakers? Is there any brand better than the rest - i've seen an alpine one after a quick search B)

Cheers PSM, i did see that thread. I've just checked my boot and its seemingly a different shape. Theres nowhere near the space behind the spare that i can see in those pics. I don't know if this a difference between the Mk1 and Mk2 or if the 4 wheel drive means less space. :S

Just seen a couple of reviews on the alpine....doesn't seem that these smaller subs make that much difference. Anyone shed any light on this?

Think your already right to assume the spacing

Other cars are same

Dont go subs .. just look at single sub, But id get the speakers upgraded. possible some good focal components

then see if you need more bass from their
