Stone chips and clay bar

Featured Replies

Hi guys, juat after a bit of advice,

I am planning to touch up all of the stone chips on the bonnet of my fabia this weekend, and then clean, claybar and polish for the first time ( I have cleaned it before but none of the rest!)

Should I be leaving the touched up stone chips for a while before clay/polish used, or should say 24hours be ok?

Any advice on making the stone chips as unnoticeable as possible would be great also.

Thanks in advance

Kirk

All ill say is 'better to be on the safe side'. My opinion, id leave it longer than 24 hours. Why not clay etc the whole car leaving the bumper (or where ever the chips are), and clay the bumper the following weekend.

The only way to make them un-notiocable (to an extent) is to wetsand them down after (providing you laquer sufficiently over the chips). Then machine out the wetsanding marks.

Thanks for that, I didn't even think of that, most of the chips are on the bonnet so it makes sense to do as you suggest.

Thanks again

Kirk

No probs mate. You only get one chance it at really, and you might as well get it done right first time round.
