Octavia 1.8T turbo probs

Featured Replies

Hello,

My partners 2001 estate (150bhp) has been diagnosed with turbo problems (No pressure and certainly no boost). I'm trying to source either a reasonably priced new or remanufacturered turbo. Could anyone who has had similar problems suggest a company? ARX engine code.

Thanks

what was the actual diagnosis? who gave you the actual diagosis? did they check the turbo shafts etc

there are lots of companies such as turbo dynamics, CR Turbos to name a couple, that can repair your turbo or supply you with a remanufactured unit on exchange basis. But before going all out we need some more detail as to the actual symptoms etc.

No warning light displayed, plugged into diagnostic machine no fault readings came up. However the mechanic said on holding the vacuum pipe he could feel no pressure to the turbo. As for symptoms, it drive very flat, no surge or pick up and the standard wastegate no longer give the quiet pssht noise when changing gear.

I would get someone else to check it over before shelling out for a new turbo. there are a whole host of things that can cause limp home mode but the diagnostics should have come up with something. if it is an ARX then it will have a K03S turbo but it will only be boosting to 7PSI as standard as it is a detuned version of the VRS which boosts to 9-10PSI it would help if you could find someone close to you with vagcom that could do some logging to see what the actual and requested boost levels are. Where are you located?
