Diesel Filler Cap "Plunger"

Featured Replies

Hi all, while filling the car with diesel late at night I twisted the nozzle gun round to drain the pipe and accidentally broke the plastic plunger that pops open the filler cap. Its white plastic and covered over with a black rubber just wondering how to get it out to replace it and what its really called? many thanks

IIRC you buy it complete with the whole flap, so you might be unlucky.

(Ignore the highlighted part below),

I assume you mean part No. 7?

I couldn't get part 7 alone, but had to replace the whole thing later anyway so didn't need to.

If you can get it then bonus :)

Thanks for the help, I'll leave it if I have to get the whole flap, its ok if you guide it back, it locks back into the closed position and close over the flap afterwards, push the flap and it pops open ok. just have to be careful as its the rubber cover thats holding it together.

Well I'd say it's worth asking a dealer with the part number next to part 7 on that picture, just in case the dealer I spoke to was playing silly sods.

Like I say, I changed it for other reasons.

Before giving up may be you can check in any scrap yard, I guess it is a not very usual part to change so there should be a couple of them available.
