Fabia Glove Box Light

Featured Replies

Hi everyone - I have a Fabia 2 58 reg. For those of you who have similar models/years, may i make a suggestion that you all go out a check that the Glovebox light hasn't remained on.

I hadn't noticed myself, until I needed to go into the "top mini glovebox" for some paperwork and burned my finger. On investigating the area, a very small scorch dimple was present.

I have just returned from my local dealer who reckon there might be a problem with the switch either shifting position and not de-activating when the front of the glovebox is shut, or that the switch is busted!

Needless to say I don't want anybody's cars going up in flames, which might happen.

So hopefully this might alert someone and take action.

Thanks for your time, take care all.

Neil.

Switch just drops off inside, pretty common.

It's the same kinda switch as used on the handbrake levers. I pop 'em back on with a self tapping screw in the bottom so it won't shift again.

Need to pop the headunit out and the surrounding trim then you can get to it.

Obvious way of checking whether it is staying on is to shut the glove box lid slowly ,after waiting for the interior light to go out , at night time. You will see the light go out if all is correct.
