Front seat removal issues?

Featured Replies

Fabia Mk3 trim level 3

My weekend project is to fit an underseat storage box to my drivers seat. There is a cable that seems to come from under the seat to the seatbelt connector. This obviously needs to be disconnected to remove the seat, but should I first disconnect the battery? Don't want to end up with an airbag fault, or worse!

If I do disconnect battery will this cause the alarm to activate or need resetting in any way after reconnection?

Thanks

Assume you mean mk2 fabia? Has only been one and two thus far.

If it's the belt buckle then that's fine, it's just for the belt light. Anything yellow is airbag.

Yeah it's a MK2 !

I'll have another look at the wiring tomorrow. It may well be the belt buckle warning light. Had not thought of that.

The thing that I noticed was that the seat as a fabric tag on the side that says 'Airbag' so I was thinking there may be an airbag in the side of the seat? There is one on the main pillar between the front and back door to the side of the headrest.

I'm so used to just taking seats in and out of cars that I never thought about the airbag implications in my new car till after I bought the storage box. I just had visions of setting it off, or bringing up an airbag fault light after fitting seat is back in the car.
