New Octavia Vrs Comb OR Superb Cr 170 Combi

Featured Replies

Hi All Briskodians,

I'm currently in the fortunate process of choosing my new car for delivery in January.

Currently have a Vrs PD 170 and that's why i'm posting this query in this section.

At the moment there is a 13-15 week waiting period for Vrs or a Superb Combi so i have to place my order next week.

Really love the Vrs, Torque for Overtaking and fantastic roadholding in all road conditions. The only issue that i would have is the very hard Ride on Iour Irish B Roads.

The Question that i would like to hear your opinion on is my New car Choice. Should i go for another VRS with full Leather and 18's in Combi rather than the Hatchback or take a more sensible choice and go for a Superb Combi Elegence Cr 170 with 18" Luna Alloys in Magic Black?

I plan to have the next car for four years. and will have requirement for more load space.

Is the driving experience as enjoyable in the Superb combi as the Vrs?

Is it worth thinking about a Superb SE with 17" wheels rather than an Elegance with the same 18" wheels as an Octavia vRS? You could always add the extras you want to the SE.

Go for a top spec Superb Combi Elegance:-a mate has 1 & it's the dogs. He has 17's though, & they look tiny-go for 18's. The ride is not as hard as my Octy, and it's deffo not as quick-remap it!! Any reviews I've read have praised the handling & ride. Also, if you're going to keep it 4 years, the Octy will be replaced/facelifted by then, whereas the Superb will still be current? Superb is humungous inside as well. An interesting fact-in Ireland you can now get a Superb Combi Elegance for the same dough as a Octy vRS Combi was in 2008! The brown/bronze/coffee/whatever it is colour looks fantastic too-maybe with black wheels? ;) Another point-when comparing trim levels, mind the VRT on options-the robbing b******s!! Oh, and make sure you spec the big sunroof!!!

Cheers for that  the drop in VRT has opened up alot more options when deciding which car to go for this time around! :D

The ride in the VRS on Back roads is seriously hard, it's ok for the driver but any passengers always give out, so the more realistic choice has to be the Combi.

I'm 95% there with the Superb Combi choice over the VRS, especially as the VRs will have a redesign within the next couple of years.

I haven't seen any Combi's so they will be rarer than the Vrs especially around Dublin,

Spec Wise i'm thinking Magic Black, and Luna 18" wheels, everything else is standard. I'll get a price on the sunroof B)

Still can't believe that Park Assist is standard on it!
