PD vRS Super Diesel?

Featured Replies

I'm picking up a diesel vRS tomorrow, does anyone have experience of super diesel? Do you get much better economy, or is it not really worth it?

do you mean premium diesel...

Lots done if you search, i think the jury is still out tbh...

I've tried running my TDI on the so called Super Diesel and I noticed not a jot of difference.

Personally, I don't think it's worth the considerable difference in price and your car has been engineered to run on standard ULS Diesel.

If the car is a PD engined vRS it would be wise to check it has had it's 26E6 recall work carried out, it relates to a modification to the DPF sensors and engine map to make them more reliable, all depends on the age and type of engine really.

I run my octy vRS PD TDI on bp ultimate diesel i get 2-3 mpg more than bp normal diesel and the car drives better to me

I never really noticed a difference, even over a few tanks.

I havent noticed any difference.

Save your money

I do notice a difference, I find the car feels more responsive up the rev range, and about 2mpg better on average

No difference, I last filled up with BP Ultimate at a whopping 10p a litre over standard diesel and it felt no different whatsoever! I know that auto express blew the lid off so called premium fuels a couple of years ago proving that they were essentially a waste of money and pretty much snake oil! that said a remapped mk 1 vrs on SUL always felt more urgent and responsive.....and I proved it to pull less timing on SUL which allowed me to dial in more timing...

Fifth gear did the same on three differnet types of petrol cars and the results were interesting.

City car - think it was a clio or something similar... no difference between premium vs supermarket

Hot Hatch - Golf GTI MkV - increase of about 2 BHP

Faster car (?) - increase of about 15 BHP

For the money - is it worth it? Your decision...

Certain not for performance as youd never feel a difference here when increase bhp by 5 bhp etc.

Howeverde some people say car feels more smooth, drives better, more willing etc. I think psychosomatic...

2mpg difference - over a tank is no change in my book. The number of variables over 1000miles of driving (two full tanks) are so huge that 2mpg could be due to the fact that one day you really caned it down a motorway slip road.
