Traffic Announcement Help please..

Featured Replies

I am having trouble turning off the traffic announcements in my Fabia vRS (2006), I'm probably being a bit thick, but pressing the TP button does not appear to do anything. I've searched on here and even read the manual... but to no avail.... Can anyone help please? Its the standard symphony radio.

Many thanks

Elaine

What are you expecting to happen when you press the button?

The letters to disappear from the display and the announcements to stop..

Pressing TP will turn TP on(obviously), however if the announcement comes on & you press TP again, it will only cancel it for that one time...the next announcement will still cause it to jump to the traffic update. You might need to press it twice, once to cancel current announcement, second time to turn it off in order to properly turn it off?

If that made any sense? ;)

It's different to the older radio cassette in my last Fabia where, if it wasn't in the middle of an announcement, the TP button would toggle between switching it off and on.

On the Symphony, it treats TP as a set of 6 channels which you can program in, in the same way as the other sets of non-TP channels. To change to a non-TP channel mode, I think the button is labelled A/F (?). Note that this may be the same actual radio station at the time you switch over, but you're now in the A/F bit of the radio's memory and the Traffic announcements should stop. There are also 2 banks of FM channels in the A/F mode - press the button again to get the other ones, and hold it down for a few seconds to switch to and from AM.

It's a bloomin' pain, actually - the old radio cassette version was far easier to use as a radio, because as you could switch TP mode on or off on any FM channel, not just 6.

The only thing I like about the Symphony radio is its ability to record up to 24 hours of Traffic Announcements when you leave the car parked - although even this is patchy in how well it works.
