Any views, query - 2007 Octavia 2.0 FSI L & K

Featured Replies

New to this site having bought a 2007 Octavia FSI petrol L & K just yesterday. (40k mileage). If I'm posting in the wrong place please someone advise me ! I was keen to buy an Octavia having never had one and heard the good reputation. So walked into the Skoda dealership and we discussed numbers and this car was just about in price range and I got a good deal as they hadn't shifted it from forecourt and i walked away twice and the price kept tumbaling. (why I wondered ?) but what was i missing - don't do enough miles for a diesal so although 1st choice was diesal was ok with petrol. Research on the inernet didn't comment much about the 2.0 FSI petrol version so I am convinced I've missed something. can anyone help ...any views on the 2.0 ltr FSI petrol. I am very pleased with the car especially the L and k model, just eager to learn more and be reality checked by those more experienced and in the know ?

The car is good, but the engine not popular. People who want economy buy the diesel versions and people who want power buy the turbo petrol. Leaves the 2.0FSI a bit stranded.

Did you drive it? If your happy with the way it drives and the price and the power vs. economy equation works for you then go for it. I'd advise test driving the diesels and the turbo petrols though, just so you know what your missing! Its a personal thing of course but I never even considered the 2.0FSI when I bought any of my Octavias (on my 3rd now)

I had the same car in Elegance trim for 3 years (05 plate) and enjoyed it but nowhere near as much as my present TSi.

It did suffer from the famous door trim noises, done under warranty, improved but not perfect.

At just about the end of warranty time the a/c compressor needed changing and the cat was beginning to fall apart - watch out for that, both expensive items if not under warranty.

The TSi nearly two years old now, and so far faultless.

I have the 2.0FSi in Elegance trim. Like others have said it is not a popular motor because if falls between the economy (diseasal) and power (turbo) stools.

Like you I don't do the miles to justify diseasal so looked at the 1.6 FSi cos there are loads about, but it cant get out of its own way so I went for the 2.0. Its great, though cross fingers you dont need a clutch change - they are a bit dear!
