TFSI OIL Question?

Featured Replies

I have a TFSI Vrs and another VAG 2L PD 140 and always had different oil with different codes. I have just been to get Oil now and been told that ALL 2L engines now use the same VW 502 00 / 505 00 / 505 01 Oil regardless of Petrol or Diesel.

Is this correct as my Petrol one in the book says VW 503 00 or 504 00?

At my service, 502 00 is used on my 2010 TSi Scout 1.8 on fixed service, on variable 507 00

Who told you it was now the same? A dealer.

I'd check each of your cars against the lookup facility on Opie Oils

Yes Skoda/VW dealer. They said that unless it is longlife Oil all VAG 2L Engines now have 502 00. That link says what my book says but maybe that is because it is old info??

Sounds like the OP was fed a load of nonsense.

505.00 is for 'old' (pre-PD) engines, mostly made before 2000.

505.01 is for PD engines, non LL.

502 is a fairly old petrol engine oil for non-LL application.

503 is a LL petrol engine oil for engines up to about 180hp (its a thin 0W-30 oil).

I think 504 was developed for the newer FSI engines and is a low ash oil.

BTW, most (not all) 502.00 oils seem to meet 505.00, but not 505.01

Indeed, you need VW504/VW507 for the newest petrol and derv engines.

It's a low ash oil as Hauptman said too.
