Fabia SDI 1.9,any other gearboxes fit?

Hi,following of from my last post regarding gearbox/clutch rumble(noise in neutral with clutch up,quite with clutch pedal down).

I have got to thinking are there any other gearboxes from the skoda or VW range that will be a direct replacement for the SDI unit,maybe the TDI ??,as I am staring to think the SDI units have issues.

As it looks as cheap to just change the gearbox as have it rebuilt if I can get one cheap enough.

Its all a bit confusing as I have been told/read it could be the input shaft bearings,and they may go on for ages or just fail,or I have been told it could be the thrust/throw-out bearing that comes with replacement clutch kits.

I am going to have the gearbox oil checked tomorrow and ask their opinion at the garage.
