Loose steering

Featured Replies

Hi. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I've just had my console bushes changed at a skoda dealership, having been advised they needed doing. I've also recently had 4 new tyres and wheel alignment /tracking carried out, and my car was driving fine yesterday.

Following the work I've had done, my steering feels very loose and requires me to turn the wheel much more to turn left/right. I'm spinning the car steering wheel upside down through 180-360 degrees more than I remember.

Is it normal to have the wheel upside down to go round roundabouts and 360 to go sharp left/right - I'm sure it used to respond much better than this?

I've taken it back, they test drove it and said it's normal, nothing wrong. They also say work on suspension wouldn't affect steering which surprised me. I know it may feel different after suspension work but I thought new bushes would make the steering feel tighter and more responsive?

Many thanks!

I have same issue on my skoda rapid. What really happened? Can you share what you found?

@mehta Welcome to the forum.

It is over ten years since that post and since the member signed into the forum.

It will be worth posting in the Rapid section of the forum saying what age your car is, & what engine etc.
