Octavia vRS - to buy or not to buy? Opinions please!

Featured Replies

Hi All,

New hopefully-soon-to-be Skoda owner here! I've been working hard playing a couple of dealers off against each other for a new Octavia vRS, and just wondered what people thought of the price and spec etc and basically whether I should go ahead and buy one or not?

Octavia Hatchback vRS, 2.0 TDI CR 170bhp DPF

Black pearl paint

Extras: Spare wheel (when did manufacturers stop supplying this as standard!?)

Maxi-dot trip computer

Rear parking sensors

Auto dimming rearview mirror, auto lights and auto wipers

Plus car mats and full tank of fuel

Best price so far: £17,750 all in

What do you reckon, a good deal? Should I go for it?

Cheers,

Tom

try speaking to john at hortons in lincoln

he promised to get me a better price on my octavia vrs and he subsequently did

it only costs you a phonecall after all

you will be disappointed when they quote you delivery dates though !!!

Price does not look too bad. I paid £19k for a VRS recently but mine was the estate and I added leather, heated seats and sunset glass above your spec. (so probably around £1250 of extras there).

The Drive The Deal price is £17,122.09 including 12 months RFL.

If you've not got a px, that should be your target price, though if you get to within a couple of hundred quid from your local dealer you're doing well. DtD dealership is in west London.

bandrew465, Yep, going to part exchange my 2007 Fiat Grande Punto... unless I can sell it privately before my new Octavia is delivered.

bettsy, Thanks for the advice - I might give them a call and see what they can do. And yeah, I've been told 15-20 weeks delivery, so would probably hold-off for the 11-plate in March.

jlwah, Yeah I found the drivethedeal price too... but am a little dubious of not buying from a local retailer in case of any problems etc. So will try to push them down a little more I think...

So, if I say I dont want to part exchange my current car, and sell it privately, will that give dealers a little more room to negotiate on price?

Thanks all for helping a noobie!

Tom.

Also, can anybody with an Octavia tell me if they have this feature... Does your passenger side mirror dip down so that you can see the kerb when in reverse gear?

This feature is only available on cars which have the electric memory drivers seat as it needs the memory bit to know where to adjust the mirror back to when you have finished reversing.
