hi all, the bracket that the alternator bolts too snaped off last night, this is the one whichs bolts to the block, and also carries the cooling fan, does anyone have one? or know where i can get one from other than skoda? and also is this a common problem to happen?

First I've heard of it tbh, second hand is going to be the cheap route, you should be able to get one from a B5.5 Passat, the different alt's make no odd's, both Valeo and Bosch unit's will fit the same bracket. hth.

It's a fairly common problem, usually caused by a seized one way clutch in the alternator drive pulley which causes the aux drive to oscillate. Also check the tensioner carefully.

It can be sourced from a breaker's yard as it's a non wearing part, but check that the fan bearing is OK or renew it before fitting.
