Full Oil and Filter Change 1.4 16v

Featured Replies

A very easy job to undertake... once you have found the relevant parts!!

You will need:

socket bar

20mm Socket

30mm Socket

new sump washer

4l Oil (I used 10w 40)

1 Replacement Filter (I used Unipart GFE 426)

1) Remove the plastic engine cover, pull vertically from the front edge. The cover is retained only by rubber grommits.

2) Jack the car on the front and leave on axel stands. Do not attempt this without stands/ramps

3) You will find the oil filter horizontally fixed to the front of the block, to the right of the alternator

4) you will find the sump underneath!!

5) using your 20mm socket, carefully remove your sump plug, catching it before it drops in to your oil jug

6) leave the oil to drain for an hour or so

7) using your 30mm socket, remove the filter - there will be a load of oil still in the filter, be careful to catch this in your jug too.

8) clean up around the filter attachment to ensure a clean fix for the new gasket

9) run film of fresh oil on your new filter gasket and attach on to the car - tighten

10) clean the sump thread, then using your new washer, re plug the sump. (be aware that fabia sump threads are VERY soft - it is common to have to retap the thread up a size)

11) refill the engine with oil - start the engine and gloat over how much better she sounds!!!

12) pop the cover back on the engine
