cost of new dunlop sport

Featured Replies

Just had to have a new tyre managed to pick up a screw as usual to near the side wall to repair its only done 8000 miles.

The first tyre company i went to said it would be £230 but could do one for £150 plus fitting. so i went to my local garage who look after my van servicing he rang around and got one for £109 plus fitting total cost £139 and its a run flat as well.

Sure I only paid £80 a tyre for these on the old works car. That was at Hi-Q

I presume you have the Tyre Pressure Monitoring system?

If not then it is not recommended that you fit run flat tyres.

Didn't know you could fit run flats to the Yeti?

Run flats tend to be lower profile with stiffer sidewalls for support when deflated, so the ride quality is likely to be affected. I wouldn't advise fitting a run flat if the other tyres are not.

Its the same profile as the rest no difference in the ride.

I did find the run flats when i looked around on the INTERNET that size comes as standard or run flat

My old one was down to 8psi but showed very little side wall flex only found it when i checked it

You may feel that the ride is no different but the tyres different internal construction methods will give different characteristics. Mixing RFT and non RFT's is something I'd never personally consider. Im pretty sure you have given the insurance company an easy way out if a serious claim was made also.

Most of the manufacturers sites add statements as follows:

"CAN I USE REPLACE RUN-FLAT TYRES WITH STANDARD TYRES?

Fitting standard tyres to a vehicle originally equipped with SST tyres is not recommended, as this will affect the vehicle's performance. However, it is physically possible to replace SST tyres with standard tyres. If you are considering doing this we recommend consulting your vehicle manufacturer, tyre manufacturer and insurance company.

•Run-Flat tyre should not be mixed with standard tyres on a vehicle.

•It is recommended that Run-Flat tyres should be used in identical sets of 4.

•If considering getting a Run-Flat tyre repaired please contact us, as most Run-Flat tyres should not be repaired only a few Run-Flat tyres can be repaired and with different rules to the procedure.
