power vs economy

Featured Replies

i am considering a stage 1 remap for my soon to arrive petrol octavia vrs

i am just a little concerned about the effect on the fuel consumption

i am led to believe that i will achieve circa 38/40 mpg as standard

what will i get with the standard stage 1 remap

With my 2.0TFSi VRS and with a stage 1 Shark Performance map. I get on average 35mpg on twisty/hilly A and B roads and up to 40mpg on motorway runs. If anything when driving normally it is more economical than standard. But if you use the power I normally see between 28 to 30 mpg, so still not bad for a 240bhp engineemoticon-0148-yes.gif

Depends how you define normal driving and what you consider to be fully accessing the performance, shall we say. Also what sort of journeys you do, traffic levels, road type - there's a fair few variables to throw into the mix.

When I had my vRS I'd get 28mpg mixed, 35-37 on a longer steady motorway run - but it could drop to high teens over a sustained run, when progressing. You don't get owt for nowt as the saying goes, and for a car producing 235bhp I didn't think it was that bad. Those are calculated tank figures by the way, not the trip comp - bare that in mind too.

Mine wasn't running a Shark map, but I'm confident it was pretty close in terms of quality and smoothness; it was produced by another mapper held in equally high regard :)

Cheers,

Steve
