Will a golf mk4 carpet fit an octavia?

Featured Replies

As the floor pan is the same and other parts fit I.e exhaust and seats, does the carpet from a mk4 golf fit, gotta get that horrid white carpet out!

Anyone done it?

I will be watching this for an answer also as the carpet is the only thing I don't like about the car.

There's a few people on here done it, but I think they all used the proper skoda carpet from an elegance or ambiente.

I'd hazard a guess at this being the much simpler option.

elegence anthracite carpet in mine, cost about £120ish.

black golf or audi a3 carpets do fit too, i know another member who has one in his octy.

Bonus then as i have one sat in the garage from when I put a full cream leather interior in the wires golf turbo.

They are also ten times easier to get hold of and loads cheaper for the others wanting to know if it will fit.

Any idea if its an exact fit with no messing chopping sections out or no gaps etc.

from what i have heard it is a direct fit, westallc had an audi carpet in his i think.

mine didnt need any cutting to fit, but it was for an octavia. Think they have the right slots and holes roughly in the right places across the range.

Mine came with a black carpet didnt realise it had been changed thought it was an option think the rear wipers off a golf too... wonder what other 'mods' ive yet to discover

oh man, if you can confirm that Black carpet from a another VAG car fits properly then I'm so doing that one! I hate the White bits in the Octy MK1, prefer the MK2 interior any day.

Sorry to drag this up but after scrolling through hundreds of threads there is no certain answer.

I have a black carpet from a Bora sat in my spare bedroom which i'd like to try and fit later if the weather dry's up, i was gonna be brave and try it anyway but read a post on here yesterday after someone fitted Mk4 Golf seats in their Octavia that the Golf seats were narrower, this has worried me now and im scared the Bora carpet will be too narrow for the car.

Has anyone fitted a Bora/Golf carpet into a Mk1 Octavia before?

Also does anyone have any fitting tips, i've removed the front seats before to change the foam seat base so i'm sorted their, i read yesterday on here somewhere that the rear seat base clips out, i presume the glove box will have to come out to remove other trim (this i've also done before) i'm sure i can work out the centre consoles, does the trim on the inner door sills clip off? Anything else need to come out too?

Thanks Jon

I plan on getting the darker carpet from another Octavia model and then having all the white cloth retrimmed with alcantara as there is no stopping the stains appearing lol.

I only bought a Bora carpet as after searching for months no Octavia carpets appeared on the net. I hope it fits, the weathers turned awful now so no chance of fitting today i don't think.

There were a few Bora/Golf carpets on eBay when i got mine, i only paid £30 inc delivery and it's in awesome condition so if it doesn't fit it's no real loss.

I saw a post on here where someone retrimmed the white sections on the seats and door cards with grey alcantara, looked really good.

I had alcantara on the seats in my old Ford Racing Puma, alcantara doesn't wear well if you where Levi's alot lol. I had to use a seat cover for the seats which was a shame as the seats were beautiful.

I can confirm now that a Bora carpet fit's in a mk1 Octavia vRS, spent 3 hours this morning swapping my carpet to a black one for a Bora, fits almost perfectly.

One problem however is that the mounts for the rear seat base are obviously different on a Bora and this has left holes in the carpet under the rear bench.

Here's the results.... i know i need new mats.

Looks good!

You could always insert some black felt or carpet in the holes to make them less obvious.

I'm very pleased with it, I have a spare square of excess carpet taken from behind the brake pedal which I may try and stick in the holes. If not I was thinking a dark acoustic carpet would do the trick.

For £30 and a few hours work it's well worth doing, my old carpet was beyond salvage after 6 years hard graft with Essex police.

As a bonus I found the spring from the ash tray lid mechanism which didn't work when I bought the car, means I can fix my old one and flog it, yey!

Looks very nice mate

Does the carpet go under the rear seat? if so couldnt you cut some pff there for the holes??

Thread revival!

Does anyone know if there's a difference between the mk4 golf 3-door and 5-door carpets? I suspect not, but checking before I pull the trigger and buy one.

I've tried my best to get the original white carpet looking good, but 19 year's worth of dirt stains are proving very stubborn.

No all the same.

Golf, Bora, other Octavia’s in Hatchback and Estates all fit.

Personally, the charcoal carpet from the L&K looks the best. Has a nice contrast with the plastics. From my Black VRS:

I must have a mental block about the elegance model. 😂

Ferry nuff, but if you're looking for a charcoal grey carpet to replace the mucky cream one in a vRS, some Elegance have the one you want, and some L&K have a hearing aid beige carpet.

Thanks all, much appreciated!

Hopefully I can make a breakthrough with the white one tomorrow, but if not I'll look for a black or anthracite one.

Definitely not keen on hearing aid beige 🤣

When refitting a carpet, did you bother with glue spots (as done in the factory)?

For the underlay? If so, then no. I never bothered as I’d probably remove it again at some point.

Yeah, for the underlay. It's pretty sturdy stuff, anyway, so I can't imagine it will move far.

Cheers
