Bonnet open warning & alarm

Featured Replies

The matrix display in the Superb which shows the plan of the car and which doors are open, has started telling me that the bonnet is open when it's not.

Sometimes I've noticed the graphic of the bonnet flashing rapidly, and also the alarm has started going off on it's own.

I suspect perhaps that I have a faulty 'bonnet open' switch which is causing the graphic to display and the alarm to go off.

Has anyone had this issue, and if so, where is is the switch - I suspect it's buried in the latching mechanism rather than being a nice simple push switch.

Any advice on what to do welcome.

Cheers,

Rob

The switch is a small microswitch in the bonnet latch assembly. It's not hard to access and can be removed easily as there is an adjacent 2 pole connector.

If not available as a separate part, have a look on the RS components or Farnell websites - it's bound to be a standard outline switch. It looks really feeble considering how bonnets are usually closed.

Check the carpet isn't wet under the glovebox.

The bonnet pin wiring runs through a grey plug at the back of the connectors at the passenger side a pillar. It's that connector that gets the water first.
