Squeak from dash board when car is cold

Featured Replies

Hi, I have an Octavia VRS limited edition and was just wondering if anybody has had an issue with annoying squeaks coming from under the dash when the car is cold. When the car has warmed up the squeak will disappear. Tried tracing the squeak but no joy. Found a lot of other issues and corrected them (fasteners missing and parts not fitted correctly). Car has covered 29,600 motorway miles and noise has appeared over the last 2000 miles. Any suggestions or solutions gratefully received.

Hi mate, I get a few squeeks coming from the climate control when its cold, turn that off (if you haven't already) to rule out some things, it only happens to me on some settings.

Thanks, I tried turning the climate control off but this had no effect, squeak still there. Pulled pax door handle whilst cornering and squeak disapperared. So I lubricated pax door seals with silicon and it seems to have cured the issue. Will confirm for definate in the morning when the car is cold.

I've just located an annoying buzz/rattle/vibration coming from what I thought behind the dash somwhere! It was in fact that small clip thing fastened to the windscreen which at times vibrated against the screen!!!

Charles, thanks I will give that a go tomorrow. Had a nightmare day today with the car. Drove on to the motorway this morning and the engine management light came on. Turned around at next junction and limped back to Skoda garage for assistance. Car needed a new DPF sensor and a rewrite of the passenger door window software. Somehow the squeak didn't seem that important today. Luckily the garage could fit me in and the car is as good as new again. Garage also mentioned that they have been changing a lot of these sensors recently. Nearly all of my 29600 miles have been motorway miles which equates to three hours solid driving back and forth to London twice a week. The pax door rewrite is associated to a recall that was against the car just after I had taken delivery. Its a reporgrammimg of the open close mechanisms to ensure the windows close to the full extent to eliminate wind noise. I had fingers crossed that the squeak might be gone, but no luck the f*@$£e%s still there. Nevermind, the car still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.
