Fuel cap

Featured Replies

This might seem like a silly question, but when filling up, once I have taken the fuel cap off, I have not worked out where it can go, and at the moment I just leave it dangling.

The problem with this as with my old p407 is that it can scratch the paintwork.

I am sure I am missing somethig really really simple.

Possibly . . . my fuel cap has two slots cut in it which when inverted can be placed over the top edge of the filler cap cover (the bit that you open to access the filler cap).

That done the cap hangs quite nicely.

on my 10 plate vrs, it just fits on the top edge of the fuel filler flap, its hard to explain but does show you in the manual if you have one?

theres a picture in you rmanual, it clips onto the fuel flap with the ridges

Took me a cuppla weeks to figure that one out when I got my car too! Oh & instruction books are for wimps... :D

Anyway wantaskoda, don't you have an L&K? ...personally I think that when we L&K drivers pull up for fuel, they should send someone out to do it for us! :giggle:

Very funny.

yes, I do send somebody to do it for me, but I dont want to pay them a lot so employ somebody more stupid than me, and it was really their question!!!!.

OMG, I've had mine since july and didn't know this - I also wondered all this time...........

Personally I think more damage will be done by doing this , let mine dangle but let screw part face outwards

If you place it on the filler flap the other way (ie screw part on the inside) there is actually very little touching the paint work, I guess less then touches by letting it dangle.

If you're that concerned cut the plastic link and place the filler cap on the pump.

ive had three mkii octavias now and never had any damage from putting the fuel cap on the flap.

Diesel dripping on the flap wont strip the wax like petrol will
