On it's way

Dealer rang to say my car is built and on it's way to the port in Germany. Ordered on August 18th. emoticon-0148-yes.gifemoticon-0148-yes.gifemoticon-0148-yes.gifemoticon-0148-yes.gifemoticon-0148-yes.gif

Cannot fathom how my car ordered May 25th still isn't being built until Wk 41?!!!!!? :'( :wonder:

Dealer was surprised too. I was originally given BW41 but despite changing a couple of things to my spec I was brought forward to BW40.

I know if you ordered the Pano roof that is causing delays.

Good luck, it's worth waiting for. Phil. emoticon-0148-yes.gif

The build weeks certainly seem to be a bit of a lottery, mine was ordered in June, yet is not due to leave the factory until the end of this month?

It always seems to be a problem with how you have spec'd the car, then you hear of others with the same 'problem' items getting built earlier.

I have long since stopped worrying about it, it will get here when it gets here. :wonder:

My understanding is that the factory supplying DSG gearboxes cannot keep up with demand and this is negatively effecting lead-times across the whole Volkswagen group. As philpix's car is a CR170 4x4 it isn't effected by this. I guess others with protracted lead-times, like me, are waiting for DSG equipped vehicles.

A work colleague is about to place an order for a Passat CC with DSG and has already been warned not to expect it before March 2011. Demand for DSG was cited specifically by the Volkswagen dealer as the reason for the long lead-time.

As an aside if your delivery lead-time goes beyond 16 weeks you are eligible for a small amount of compensation; £150 - 16 weeks+ rising to £300 - 25 weeks+. Rainworth Skoda confirmed this to me yesterday and I have supplied them with a list of £150 worth of dealer fit/supply accessories to add to my vehicle. Rainworth Skoda are going to handle the compensation claim with SUK direct.

Best regards

David

Mine is a manual

I have also been told it is down to a shortage of CR engines ... personally I think they are 'making it up on the spot'. How can there be a shortage of a particular thing which means the BW gets put back, yet others who have that option get their BW brought forward or they stay the same??

I think this is why SkodaUK hate this site. We ask too many questions! emoticon-0112-wondering.gif

Do you have any written evidence I can use to supply to my dealer about the cashback refund? email etc?

Thanks

Nothing I'm afraid. I came across information regarding the compensation elsewhere on this forum and quizzed Rainworth about it (I'll try and find it again and post the link).

As far as I can tell the compensation is funded by Skoda UK so there is no reason, other than a bit of administration overhead, for a dealer not to offer it when requested.

Oh well, that's my simplistic theory shot to bits. :(

DSG and/or CR TDI? :)

As a follow- up I asked my dealer and received this reply - which I wouldn't have known about if David hadn't posted. The loan car of a 1.2 fabia is less than appealing but I can see someone here nabbing the vouchers!

As per Skoda UK instructions, they are offering free use of a loan car, OR, Marks & Spencer vouchers only. These are Skodas' guide-line parameters, of which we have to adhere to.

So, either the vouchers, or the loan car. It is worth mentioning that the vouchers would be in the name of the company
