Took friends to test drive a Yeti

Featured Replies

So me going on about the Yeti has convinced two friends to go and look at an automatic Yeti. I went with for the test drive in a 1,2 DSG. The standard shock though when the dealer drove off and none of us even realised the car was running! Gosh it's smooth and quiet. First my friend went around then I did. Hmmm. Powerful for a 1,2 yes but all in all pretty slow. The 0-60 time is the same as my A2's but whereas the A2 always feels eager and fast the 1,2 Yeti felt slow. But my friends were impressed and loved it. I can't live with one but it sure is a cracking car. Loved the DSG though. For the first time I took a seat out to show them how the outer seats "slide" inwards. Well so I thought. Hmmm. You have to fold te seats flat, then unclip them and reposition them in one single inner position. Hmmm. The Ford C-Max for example has seats that can slide and be locked in any position. Don't think I'll do it often.

Then we went to Nissan on the spur of the moment as it was around the corner. They fell in love with the Juke instantly until they saw the size of the bootlet and that no baby stroller will fit in there. No-one helped or acknowledged us and we had to ask for help when the Cashcow on the floor's boot did not want to open (due to a flat battery). Anyway we had not booked a test drive but got one in a 1,6 petrol manual. One word: awful. Even from the back seat I could hear how noisy and clunky the gearbox was. And Karen (the only one driving this time) said it was the worst gearbox she'd ever used before. And the suspension behind me noisily clunked over every speedbump. I was surprised how awful it was. And no options. Not one, nothing, nada. You can pick one of four models and the colour! That is it! And they are not cheap.

They were not totally smitten by the Yeti as they want a sunroof. So time will tell what they do.

I saw a Juke in the flesh on Saturday. What a. Strange looking rear bumper.

I watched a review on some tv programme and the presenters had to crick his neck in the back seat cos his head touched the roof and he was only 5'10" !!!! he also said looking out fo the back window was like looking out of a letterbox !!

Horrid thing.

I saw a 'man' driving one yesterday

I saw a Nissan demonstrator the other day on the road, very awkward looking.

I felt sorry for the salesman driving it.

The choice for my wife was a Yeti or a Nissan Juke to replace our 7 year old Fabia 1.4tdi Estate. We thouhgt the Juke was funky but my wife just hated the gearbox which was decidely notchy. By comparison the Yeti was smooth as silk. Also the Juke did not come as a diesel 4x4 manual which is very foolish of Nissan. Naturally we bought the Yeti and it is very good so far!
