Panorama roof and water...

Featured Replies

This weekend I (my wife actually) was test driving the Superb Combi with the 170 hp diesel/DSG combo in our little town just to get a feeling for it in "city-driving".

This example had this glass panorama roof, quite nice! But I couldn't stop my self from thinking: Is this really a good idea on a Skoda witch already seems to have a somewhat bad history with water leakage? For me this is a clearly no, but what are your experience with this, all of you who have this feature on your cars?

As a side note I found out that my build week have been moved from w. 48 to 45! And I don't believe it for one minute... :notme: The problem is how to sync this with selling my old car but I have to wait for what my confirmed build week will be.

Those that were faced with leakage, did they try driving with the roof closed as well? B)

Yes do a bit of reading in the Superb II forum and you will see at least two instances of this being reported in the last week.

ATEOTD it would not be a VAG car if it didn't suffer from water ingress - it seems to be their trademark!

Well, I'm not really by own experince but I found this little piece of evidence while lurking around this forums...

This does however note state ANYTHING about this panorama roof. It's just me asking questions about another potential risk of leakage. Skodas seems to have a little history of leaking cars...

Or is just me being somewhat paranoid?

Visit the Yeti forum then. The Yeti uses the exact same roof:

There have thus far been three heavy sunroof leakages reported on the forum. Mostly all due to the drain outlets at the back (near the hatch hinges) being unable to open and the drain pipes leading to these being too narrow.

Ouch! That doesn't sound so good. On one side it isn't that many mentioned, on the other side its a couple too many. Glad that I didn't order that one then... or maybe they fixed it for the Superb! :)
