Octavia 1.4 TSI Car started but cannot engage gear

Hi,

I'm from Singapore and the Octavia TSI sales hasn't picked up yet.

My car is nearly a year old and went through the first servicing just last month.

Yesterday after start up, the car simply cannot engage gear even though the gearshift lever was able to move into any position. There were no indication or symptom that the car is going to fail prior to this incident but after the incident occured, the "Exhaust Control System" light came on.

The service center just informed me that the "Mechatronic" has failed and needs replacement. Anybody has experienced this failure?

I am also told by my VW friends that the DSG gearbox is prone to fail. Do any Skoda Octavia II users out there face the same problem?
