Long beeps after starting car

Featured Replies

Hi.

Had a weird thing yesterday.

After starting my car (05 PD140) I heard four or 5 long beeps from the dash area.

Any idea what this might have been? It ran OK and hasn't done it since.

Seat belt warning?

Seat belt warning?

It wasn't the nice chime/bong sound but more ...basic... for want of a better word. Each beep was about a second long.

Anything amiss in fluid levels? Coolant, brake fluid , fuel etc?

Oil, Coolant level or service required?

Couldn't see any icons at the time. Had the service reminder chimes for a while before the service but this was totally different. Sounded like a cheap buzzer. Maybe the speaker's on its way out.

I'll give all the levels a check tonight.

If you can find a friendly member near you with VCDS they will be able to scan your car for faults for beer tokens, which is probably the quickest way to find out what the issue is.

VCDS? Vice Chief of the Defence Staff? He's been reduced to a 'umble Skoda? :o

Have the Defence Cuts started to really bite? I do hope he still sits in the back and has a driver.

have you got parking sensors?

have you got parking sensors?

I have but it didn't sound like them. Beeps stopped before I moved the car off.

I've got an STS unit from shark performance for another car but not sure if I can use it for fault codes on this one. (Fired off an email to ask)

Did use it but got some odd codes out of it, C07B7 and C02A2.

I know I have faults relating to the central locking (single wire mode?) from past trip to the dealer and Ben.

Know exactly what you mean, as our Fabia 1.9 tdi also does this sometimes (although not the Octy) - it seems completely random, involves no warning lights, and I've never got to the bottom of it. Dealer has been predictably useless!
