tried to open up my bonnet this afternoon and the rod from

the handle as come off.

tried to open up poking around for a hour

:'( gave up

the bonnet opens all right from inside car which lets you lift

a handle under the grill it is the rod to this handle that as come off

if anyone could post a picture showing where the rod fits it would

be very helpfull as i cant workout how to open it up.

Here you go John:

1st photo is of the catch (circled in red) through the grill

Next is the catch in the closed 'locked' position

Finally the catch when the handle is lifted (to open the bonnet)

Poke a long screwdriver through the grill and push the bottom of the catch towards the drivers side will open it up.

i am bit embarrassed

i forgot to mention mine is the facelift model 2007

and it looks quite different to the one you have pictured.

the handle on mine doesnt poke through the grill but

sits on the bottom of the grill ,it is connected by a rod

which first come off the handle then the catch leaving me

with no idea how to release the catch to lift up bonnet.

sorry again gizmo for not mentioning it being a facelift

model and you are a true gent for trying to help out

so quickly.

push the catch towards the drivers side

does release the bonnet.

have ordered new rod from skoda
