Vrs ECU relacement and rempping

Featured Replies

What problems will I encounter if I buy another VRs ECU, fit it and get it remapped, thereby keeping the original as backup and if I resell car.

Note to admin remove duplicate if possible!

No need - mappers take a copy of your OEM map before mapping. Get the car flashed back when/if you sell. Simplez :giggle:

If you still want to do this, ask the mapper to clone the old ECU into the new one. This transfers the immo-id and VIN to the new ECU. Cloning also ensures that the two are identical before mapping. Part numbers need to be identical.

I already have another ECU from a breaker.

I really need to know whats involved to swap them over. (yeah i'm just curious)

Will it need programming to my car or can I just swap them over?

If you get someone like Motech performance software to map it they can remove the immobiliser code so it will work on any car thus making it quite appealing to sell on if you do put back to standard.
