Frustration : The missing specs

Featured Replies

I'm frustrated.

First by the long delivery times and second by the absence of the two specs I'd really like to choose between. Where is the 170BHP DSG Diesel 4X4 and the 180BHP 1.4 Tsi petrol DSG 4X4?

Since the diesel 170BHP is available on the Superb and the 180BHP petrol is available on the Fabia where's the problem?

Despite the waiting list, I would have ordered by now if either of these specs were available.

To be honest is there really that much difference in performane of the 140bhp to the 170bhp ??...I think not, especially for the extra wonga associated with it.

Missing specs?.You should have gone to Specsavers!.(Sorry,I will just get my coat).

1.5 seconds faster to 100 km/hr does not sound much, but the 170 power is very convincing. If your'e toodling around Britain on A and B roads, there is really not a need for the extra Elan, but try doing a long motorway stretch in Germany, and you would be convinced.

Exactly what I have in mind.

Coming from a 'mapped' Octavia vRS TDI to Yeti but wanting/needing the DSG box the solution was simple; buy the CR140 DSG Yeti and get it remapped.

This then gives around 5bhp and 7.5% more torque than an OE spec 2.0L CR170; plus if you check the price list/specification it comes out quite a few hundred pounds cheaper than a theoretical CR170 DSG (acknowledging the front brake discs are lager on the CR170; about the only difference in spec I can find).

Win, win?

Question is, how would the insurance company view chipping?

Question is, how would the insurance company view chipping?

Or how would it affect your 3 year guarantee - especially if you blew the engine.

An old Terrano of mine was sold on after 11 months (it was a Company car that I bought at a very advantageous price) The guarantee was still valid but the new owner did not get an oil and filter change at the recommended mileage. The engine seized solid. The last I saw of it was stuck in the corner of the workshop while Nissan and the owner bickered over the cost of a replacement engine.

The moral of the story is always make sure you are in the right.

Give them time and what you want may become available...

When I ordered ours (and was originally after a Diesel auto) I was told by the dealer that there was no sign of Skoda making that variant as SUK had not told any dealers at that point.

Skoda seem to regularly add extra options or a new engine/box combo.

Certainly I'd not buy a new model from SUK again until they had decided to do the combo and options I really wanted. As it could be just round the corner!

Thanks Richard, good advice I think. I've been discussing this with a neighbour who has just ordered a 1.4 Tsi Golf who was of the same opinion. If I hadn't waited this long I would have been seriously upset about the addition of the electric driver's seat and folding mirrors.
