Drive Shaft Noise

Featured Replies

Picked up our new Yeti 4x4 diesel today. Within a couple of hours we noticed a graunching noise almost every time we applied left lock and accelerated. Skoda Assist came out and reckon it could be a dry joint in the drive shaft or the lubrication not getting to all of the shaft within the gaiter. Checked for stones in the disc etc etc. The davice is to drive it and see if it improves, if not, then recovery trick and presumably a new drive shaft. Anyone else experienced this. Not a good start!

Hello there, our 1.2 front wheel drive Yeti made a creaking/groaning noise when a lot of lock was applied at low speed when we first got it but it just seemed to go away after a few drives. Hope this helps,

Mark.

I certainly hope it is nothing serious! Went out last evening for a few miles and I thought it was OK, then a couple of left-handers and it graunched again. Will try for a couple of days and if necessary return it to te dealer.

Took car to dealer today. They could find nothing wrong but they could hear the noise and said as it was slight I should drive on it and see if it goes away. I am not happy with this so will give it a day then take it back and insist they deal with it properly. Not a good start!

Problem solved. Turned out to be a heat shield vibrating against the exhaust. Yippee!
