Warranty issue

Featured Replies

My girlfriends mother bought a Fabia just over a year ago, new from a local Skoda dealer.

The 1st service was done last week when she mentioned to them there was a rattle from somewhere, not sure where, The dealer told her it was not covered by the warranty because claims had to be be made during the 1st 6 months!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Skoda warranty was for 2 years/60,000 miles.

Taken from skodas website

"Because your car is that reliable.

We're confident in the build quality of our cars, and by awarding us 'Best Manufacturer' in the Auto Express Driver Power survey for the second year running, we think our customers agree.

So not only can we give you a two year Unlimited Mileage Warranty but also a third year of Warranty up to 60,000 miles. Plus, a 12 year Body Protection Warranty on all new Škodas."

tell her to take it back or even call SUK

I cant say about the fabia, but in the octavia warranty handbook there is a long list of things that they wont cover after the first six months of ownership, this includes rattles and adjustment of various interior/door parts.

Maybe this is what they were refering to? Although if it's something other than a trim rattle i.e. a mechanical issue, then surely they should at least investigate.

Get her to take it back to where she purchased it and use SOGA rather than the warranty.

i would have thought they'd take a look purely as a good will gesture seeing as you are a return customer and getting your servicing done by them

Trouble is all techs time is accountable and has to be paid for.

If Skoda state that rattles etc are only covered for six months then they arent going to pay for it after that, sales of goods act or not, the car is still fit for purpose and perfectly safe. Not Skodas fault our roads are in such a state things start rattling and/or vibrating.
