Carbonio fitted but problems.....

Featured Replies

Morning all! I fitted my carbonio to the vrs last night and have run into a slight problem. The hose connector supplied keeps popping off and is simply too short. So had a look at how Rob did his on pimpmyskoda and on the fitting guide it looks like he uses the connecter supplied, but then in other images a much longer blue samco hose has been put in its place which makes me think this original connector hose being too short is a common thing?!

what i want to know is the size of the maf. the carbon pipe work seems a lot larger in size than the oem maf it connects to. is it best to get a reducer - if so what size? whats everyone else's work around this problem?

any advice would be great

cheers

Was it bought new? if so ring the supplier and explain your issue and tell them to send you a better pipe.

Other than that there's plenty of samco type tubing on ebay etc.

Maf is 2.5" i think but not 100% sure

standard maf is 2.5 yes

cheers guys i will get a reducer off the net - sounds awesome now though, well chuffed with the results

I have to say if I had just spent 200 odd notes on an air filter for my car and it didn't fit I would be taking it back!

I extended mine with a couple of 2.5" silicone joiners and an alloy extender - but I also think I fitted it the wrong way around as it was easier to get past the headlight and battery that way.

its funny you say that rob because when i looked at it i thought i had fitted it the wrong way round. :giggle:

but all seems to be in place now and fits nicely. i phoned the supplier and they did say they had a few complaints about it popping off and being too short etc. they offered to take the system back from me but since ive fitted it i cant be arsed with the hassle so bought a reducer last night and for the sake of a tenner im gonna stick that on and that should sort it

Mine didn't pop off - it pulled the TIP off the turbo!

Which was a bit of a problem as I didn't know about it until I started getting a CEL, and by that time my MAF was busted :(
