Felicia Acceleration Problem

Featured Replies

Greetings all

After a considerable trouble- free period driving my 2000 1.6 estate it has suddenly started to miss when accelerating through the gears. If I keep my foot down (or pump the accelerator) the 'missing ' will stop and normal smooth service is resumed. When the car is 'missing' it can be quite severe and seems to vibrate through the whole car in a machine-gun type frequency. Very un-nerving to say the least !! It only happens during acceleration and the car is fine when running at a constant speed. It is getting so bad that I wouldn't now dare try to overtake anything in case I lost power whilst trying to get past. The car doesn't cut out or anything and the whole thing only lasts a few seconds. I really don't know where to start looking first in order to rectify this problem. Fuel or electrics ? Has anyone else experienced this perhaps ?

As always, your comments and suggestions are most welcome and much appreciated.

Regards and best wishes.

Rob :)

Thanks. That will be the first job later this morning.

are there any other underlying problems with the car? have you had any work done recently?

there are a few posibilities, it may be a dodgy map sensor, but it does sound like an ignition misfire, might need the timing adjusting

Thanks for your reply Tom.

No recent work done on the car (if it ain't broke....etc !) as she has been running well. She hasn't had much use this last 3 months is all that's changed recently. Probably less than 50 miles/week. Will have a word with my local Skoda dealer and see if they can do a computer diagnostic check. Trouble is, it could be one of a multitude of defects so I'm looking for an easy diagnostic option/fix.
