Coming home lights: fogs instead of expensive Xenons

Featured Replies

Now this mod really makes sense to me. It is better to have the fogs come on for your coming home/leaving home lights than the xenons on dipped:

Another thing for James's party!

I also like this one:

"Turn off DRL on the side that you a have a blinker on ( left blinker on, left DRL off but right DRL stays on)"

Audi's with bright LED DRLs also do this so that you can see the indicator as the LED glare is too much in the day to see the indicators "behind" them.

The Audi indicator/LED light is relevant as they are housed together and so it is tricky to see the indicators when they are on. Luckily they are separate on the Yeti so they are not an issue for us. I have a colleague who mentioned this the other day as he is about to buy a TT. We went outside to check the Yeti to see if it worked the same but it doesn't.

Apparently someone on the main Audi forum has changed the settings so the LED's don't go off and the lights just merged and were dangerous.

What I don't get is that if Audi went so far as to add this to the car's software then they are basically admitting that the indicators are invisible when the DRLs are on - due to them being housed together. So following the same logic why on earth do they then put the indicators next to the headlights IN THE SAME UNIT?! They KNOW that the indicators will be all but invisible at night with the main lights on?!!? Doh... I don't get this. Indicators should always be separate from the headlights in my book like in the olden days. But then even the Yeti is guilty of this one as that is just what the current fashion is with headlights and indicators.

And then the Yeti's is even worse than the Audi one in the link above as the indicators are even closer to the main headlights! Doh!

Edit: added pics.

Have you ever followed a golf mk5 which is signalling and braking? you can't see the indicator. There are many cars out there like that. dangerous.

Oh it is the current trend. Style before safety.
