Yeti 1.2 S Continues to Pull to Left

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have actually posted about this somewhere before. I took my car in for some warranty work at a new dealer in Durham and they sorted out the steering for me. For the last 6 months, the steering wheel never sitted bang on the middle, but it is always 1-2 degrees to the left. About 8 days ago, when I collected the car, they told me they did a full wheel alignment, at first on A road doing around 50 - 60 mph, the steering sat a lot more centre. However, I drove to Birmingham yesterday and back today and noticed that the steering is not sitting on the centre (I have taken into account the camber of the road), driving at motoway speed.

I also noticed that there is quite a bit torque steer, as I usually pull away, it fights to go on the right at less than half throttle. I understand the new dealer has done a full wheel alignment, however my old dealer said it is normal when it is definitely not. I am wondering what else could it be - bushes? diffs? or problem chassis?

It is getting a little frustrating after about 5 visits to the old dealer where everything still remains the same and the last visit to the new dealer which did what the first dealer should have done, but the Yeti still contines to display the earliest traits?

Any thought? I have not been driving a lot since I got it back, around 30-40 miles prior to the journey down to Birmingham, so it is unlikely to have suffered any "pothole damages".

Thanks!

Sounds like you need to talk to wheels-in-motion on 01494 797825. They are chassis specialists.

I was going to get my Octavia set up by them but sold it before I got round to arranging it.

Thanks for the quick reply! I have thought about going to independent specialist for this, however I am not sure if there are deeper problems!

I would also like to add that the steering issue has always been there, from the first day I picked up the car, I have emailed my supplying dealer about the problem and have these email in my sent items and replies from them. I am just curious as to why it is so difficult to sort this thing out, when it should have been spotted during PDI and if not, subsequently sorted out! This is why it's leading to me thinking that something much more serious is wrong with my Yeti!
