MY11 Scout Puddle Light Failed

Featured Replies

Just noticed tonight that the drivers side has packed up. Anyone else had this or know of an easy fix to save a trip to the Dealer ?

Probably just the bulb, especially if the passenger side is still working.

To gain access you need to remove the mirror glass which involves a firm pull - but in the right place - not for the faint hearted!

Once the glass is out there are a couple of Torx screws to remove and then the whole puddle light / LED indicator assembly can be removed.

I could be wrong but I think I've read on here that the bulb is a standard 12V 5W - not 100% sure though.

Not sure if bulbs are classed as wear and tear items and therefore not covered under warranty?

Good point..... It would be just my luck to bust the mirror glass however. I would be a bit #issed off if the dealer charged me for replacing the bulb when the cars only done 2000 miles and 3 monthss old.

Ahh... I see. It's not just a bulb it's a light unit.

Whats the general thoughts then ? Should this be done under Warrenty ?

It is a bulb, so providing it is the bulb that's blown it will be a simple fix, providing you can get past the mirror glass!

The LED indicator / repeater uses the same lense but is sealed, so if that fails then you would need to replace the whole lot.

I'm with you, if my car was as fresh out of the showroom as yours I'd be expecting the supplying dealer to fix it as a gesture of goodwill.

You could always supply the £1.50 bulb and just ask them to fit it for you?

Vanessa at Bickertons says as long as no damage to mirror it's a warranty job. Result :-)
