If I fit BAM Pistons would they need BAM rings or AUQ rings?

Try Trade Part Specialists. Usually a bit cheaper than main dealer, & genuine VAG parts. Unless you're planning big mods I would just stay with AUQ internals.

No big mods I just want the engine back to its normal self. I am finding it hard to source decent parts so far and there are some BAM pistons on ebay that look pretty good. A single piston and rod is around 80-100 on its own and these are going for £200.00

i don't really see the point in going for BAM pistons then. You can put the money you save towards the repair costs.

for that price it would make sense as it will cost that for an oem one

and you get the added bonus its stronger so a win win all the way
