Loud Boost noise... leak?

Featured Replies

Hey my VRS 03 plate again :)

Just occured to me on the way to work today, that when i accelerate i can hear alot of turbo, Its NOT a whitsle but very much the same noise you get when you let off the accelerator (DV noise) its not as loud as the DV let off, but its all the time while accelerating.

Slightly worried that you shoudlnt hear a turbo this much on acceleration,

have i got a leak somehwere and could this be why i sometimes get a fault code saying the MAF signal is too low.... maybe maf is reading different to what is actually going into the engine.

I could try and record or film it on my phone but with the car beign sporty and hard suspension i doubt it could pick it up over the road noise. :S now i say this but it is easily distinguishable to the human ear.

if your getting Maf too low then you may have a big VAC leak pre turbo, there are some good threads on boost/vac leak testing if you search. HTH

yeh im getting the TC/ABS light pop up every now and again for a while which is what happened when i totally unlugged the maf to see if it would make a difference...... the TC IS STILL ON! and working and so is the ABS while this light is on lol....

Feels like its got a horrible horrible lack of responsiveness now too ..... URGH! 'here do 25mpg but you can still be slow as a snail' lol
