They are also 7.5" wide, most 18s are typically 8" wide

Yes they are, so an 8" wheel with a 42mm offset (like most) will be 12.3mm further out, i.e. the offset difference + 1/4"

I'm wondering if this may be a bit too much?

Sorry, but they are 46....

.... that's what on the inside of my Thermisto's anyway! - just took them off today for the 1st time and replaced with Winter's.

Yes they are, I had the rears off at the weekend and noticed that, I was going to mention it here.
