Dead tweeter after remap!

Featured Replies

It's probably a complete coincidence but the tweeter in the rear dor (just behind my ear) was working on the way to Jabba, on the way home I turned the stereo on and it wasn't! I've checked the fader/balance etc. and the little blighter is dead as a door nail.

Anyone got any ideas on a) the cause and B) replacement costs etc...

I wasnt listening to anything loud either before or after the remap - Joss Stone at volume 8.

Have a look at the speaker in the boot - the cable to the rear door tweeter comes off from here (ie four wires connected to each speaker), so check that it isn't loose.

Suggest you remove the offending CD... Joss Stone, tch...

...but seriously, check the connector in the back of it, you'll need to open the handle and uncip the panel with a small flat bladed screwdriver.

Or, as many of us have done, disconnect them anyway, you'd be surprised at the improvement!!

Personally, I wouldn't bother replacing it like-for-like. Disconnect the rear tweeters and swap out the rears for some entry-level coaxials... :D
