Upgrading the OE premium 12 speaker setup?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I have the optional factory 12 speaker setup which includes a digital amp under the passenger seat. I believe the set up is the same as what is optionally offered in the new Superb also.

The amp drives a treble, a mid range driver and a bass driver in each door. The overall quality of the system, particularly driven by the Columbus is pretty good to be honest but the actual speakers use paper cones and I can't help but think that a modest outlay (say around £250?) could bring big benefits.

I'm guessing the amp is ok and would need to ideally be left in place due to it's canbus connection but could anyone recommend a replacent set of components; either two piece or three piece as direct replacements? I've done a few audio installs previously (my preference was always for Alpine DDDrive components upfront) but things seem to have moved on somewhat as I'm seeing companies such as 'rainbow' and 'hertz' (don't they rent cars?) that I've never heard of before!

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
