Terminology

Featured Replies

On hearing the new Audi A1 being advertised on the radio today, it announced that it is available with a 122ps 1.4 TFSi engine and a 7 speed S-Tronic transmission. In Skoda speak that translates to me as TSi & DSG.

Perhaps it the different terminology for the same thing which makes Audi the premium brand

Yes, Audi has always referred to DSG as S tronic. I did however think that the 'F' in TFSI had been dropped so all petrol units were referred to as TSi?

So did I, apparently not so with Audi. Probably a marketing ploy to differenciate them from lesser kin. They have to justify the price differences, after all it is perceived as a premium brand.

Sat behind a new looking TT the other day with TFSI on the back, assume they are thinking of the 'good old days' when letters after a persons name ment something emoticon-0112-wondering.gif
