Front speaker size in vRS

Featured Replies

Hi,

What size are the front speakers in a vRS as I have my new car coming Monday and a set of JL XR525's from the old car but am not sure whether they'll fit. If they don't then I need to find some replacements and sell mine.

Cheers

What one?

Fabia speakers are 165mm, but you will need the autoleads spacer for the Mk4 Golf, as there is no way it will fit otherwise.

Oh yeah sorry a fabia.

So that's about 6" then, is there any adapters I can get to fit my 5.25" speakers as I love the ones I have.

Cheers

Make them out of MDF, will sound better anyhow.

Around 65mm mounting depth max iirc though.

yep if you make your own MDF baffle you will be able to fit those lovly JL's

Enjoy....

if your local to peterborough or dont mind driving i dont mind helping

I'm not very good at the DIY thing, I can wire a car up but just can't make things as they always come out the wrong size or shape. Last thing I attempted to make was a false floor and that turned out to be one piece of MDF on the floor of my boot and everything laid out on top and left as that (so not even a false floor, just a floor). I might have to take you up on that offer Joel as you're only 2 hours away from me, and that give me a chance to run in my furby vRS.

I'll let you know, first things first I need to strip my clio and pickup my furby.

Cheers

I don't doubt you.

You may be able to help me with the rest of my stuff as well and possibly a boot install that looks half decent, you'll be rewarded for your time don't worry.

At the moment I have a Kenwood KDC 7024 HU (not great but does the job), JL XR525CSi comps run off a Directed 400 amp, Morel USA Canon Sub run off a Kicker DX700 amp. I just need to fit this all into the new car and make it look half decent. I'll get you a pic of my current boot when I go back to Milton Keynes and you'll be able to see how bad my skills really are :)

Cheers

ok... dont have a problem doing a whole install...ctach me on msn if you got it.. and we will talk about some ideas... and milton keynes aint that far...

Thought the fabia front speakers were 5.25"

I've ordered some Alpine SPR136A speakers, do I need to change the order the the SPR176A units? And in order to get them to fit, do I need the autoleads spacer rings? Help!!!!

either will fit with a home made baffle the 176 will no dount give better bass assuming there the bigger ones?

Joel

This is going to be a shop install not a home one so I need to know what size will fit... am I safer sticking with the ones I've already ordered?

Hmm. They do seem rather deep, but I think they should just about fit. If you're getting a shop to fit them, they should be able to knock up some spacers. That way, depth is the only real dimension you need to worry about.

Unfortunately, Alpine's website doesn't give the dimensions, so unless you ring them up, or the shop and ask them to grab a tape measure, it's a bit risky :(

Have "suggested" to the fitter that I'd prefer the 176's if they can make them fit but the 136s will do if they can't. Same price either way so can't say fairer than that.

In the back I'm running MB quart DKC 169's. I know 6x9's are generally quite pony, but these are pretty decent. If I'm running all 4 speakers plus 12" sub off one mahoosive amp :D , should I stick with the DKC's or swap them over for a pair of very smooth sounding Mac Iron 16.2's I have lying around???
