I've just moved to a Superb with 140CR from a Passat with the 170PD.

There is a noticeable difference in the 'ooomph' factor, particularly on the motorway.

However, I'm not disappointed. The 170PD was a quite "brutal" whereas the 140CR quietly gets on with the job in hand.

I did drive a demonstrator with the 170CR, and would have probably gone for this had my company car scheme not forced me to choose between 140 Elegance or 170 SE :(

So as I've said, I'm not disappointed with my engine choice given the extra spec of the Elegance.

In a word ...no! I've had a 140 se for over 18 months and it is brilliant no issues at all and no lack of power. I have been a professional driver of just about everything from motorbikes to HGVs and you won't get anyhting much better than the Superb

My bro has the 170CR DSG Elegance and it is genuinely spritley. Pre remap there wasnt much difference between it and my VRS at lowish speed(<30mph)
