Well I've finally decided to get the grille off and strip it so now I'm left with it looking like this.....

Whats best to use for rubbing down the chrome ready for primer???

just get some rough sandpaper

don't worry about making deepish scratches as you can sand these out with a fine sandpaper

People usually put the chromed plastic trim pieces in bleach to get it off - it looks a lot easier than sanding.

Your better off leaving those in, then applying a plastic primer and sanding that down smooth, this gives a key for the primer to stick to.

But having said that the chrome is a very hard surface, I normally use my b/d mouse and an 80 grit pad.

I have had one bead blasted before, but it didnt end that well and took and age to prep.

Well its getting there, not completely happy with the finish yet so I've ordered up some wet and dry so I can smooth off the dodgy areas and get it perfect before I refit it to the car.

Is this fairly easy to do? Something I want Yo do along with calipers this weekend.

Only awkward part really is removing the chrome trim but once that is out you can refit the grille and then clip the chrome surround back on once done

Well I had to use up holiday from work and was bored and had no pennies so thought why not lol, I still need to get new front indicators for mine as they have gone mouldy looking around where the glue is.

Thats happening to one of mine and ifs letting in moisture so need to open it clean it reseal then sell em
