Next service in 740 days

Featured Replies

My car says the next service is just over 18,000 miles away or 740 days... Yikes. Does that mean it has been set to variable servicing?

Yes in one word.

Mike

I understand that is the default, unless the dealer changes it.

Sounds like it but arent they all set to variable from the factory?

Thanks. Guess they all are indeed. I'll just take it in at 10,000 then for an oil change? And get them to set it to fixed servicing? Is that what most people do that do less than 10,000 miles a year?

Yes that's what I did with Pat, although 12,000 + is the norm for me per year. From experiance of sticking to the variable regime on previous cars, then the oils a total mess by 12-14000 plus. OK for fleet users but as a private buyer I'd avoid it.

My A2 1,4 TDI had 32,000 miles between services!!!!!!! Yes 32,000 miles. Yikes. In the first two years I did 60,000 miles driving for work so it made sense, but after that stopped I also went on a fixed service schedule at 10,000 mile intervals.
