Change fascia on a Bolero?

Featured Replies

Hi! I´m new here, and I´m danish; so, sorry for the language :)

I want a Skoda Bolero radio for my Octavia Mk. II FL (2009), and I´ve found one on Flee-bay. But that

comes from a Superb, and does´nt seem to fit my car. The million dollar question is now: can I buy

a new fascia for the radio, so it will fit my Octavia?

Thanks ;)

The way it looks now:

The button layout is different on those two pictures. The top one has the same layout as my Bolero (as fitted in my Octavia from the factory) whereas the bottom one has thwo button on the top left where the "Sound" button is on mine. I can't see that a change of fascia would work...

The screen on th first one looks smaller as well, from the pic's i would say they are 2 totally different head units.

I've just downloaded the Superb Brochure and the picture of the Bolero in there is the same as the second picture in the original post, whereas the Bolero in my Octavia is the same as the first picture... Looks like there are two models of Bolero

Yeah, I have realized, that it´s two different radios - crap. But thanks anyway :)

All is not lost my friend, I am almost certain that the Bolero for the superb is the same dimensions as the Columbus for the Octavia, therefore, you will need to get a new facia to suit the MFD3 (Columbus)!

The difference between the two is as follows, on the 'Octavia' Bolero, you remove the head unit facia to access the fixing points, however on the Columbus or 'Superb' version of the Bolero the fixing points protrude from the side of the unit (as in the second picture).

The first picture attached is of a Columbus head unit fitted in a Octavia, you will notice that the head unit itself looks smaller than the Bolero in the second picture attached -

If you PM either vRSCarl or Brimma they should be able to give you the part number for the required facia as both members have upgraded to the Columbus.

Thanks for your reply, mate. But I don´t think it´s gonna work; look at the distance between the three selectorbuttons aside of the screen and the volumebutton.

The distance is way bigger on the Superb unit, compared to the one from the Octavia :(

Thats not the issue, all these HU are double din and will pretty much fit most cars in the VAG range, can you post a link to the ebay bolero you found? As I nearly got one from a superb myself, but I couldn't be bothered changing the facia etc.......

It´s the first picture in this thread :) And it won´t fit in my Octavia, even if I changed the fascia. There´s two versions of the Bolero; one for the Superb only (first picture) and one for the rest (second picture). The one for the "rest" will also fit the Superb, though. The one on the first picture is for sale on the danish club "vagcars.dk" for £245.

I'm still not convinced, afaik even this should fit the Octavia with the correct facia!

I can't view the first picture at the moment as I'm at work, don't give up hope yet, let me have a look this evening.

Another option would be to buy my Bolero which will be going up for sale as soon as the Columbus I've just ordered turns up

Now I just need to triple check which trim I need for the centre console to fit the Columbus...

The one on your link fits an Octavia perfectly! Notice the difference from the Superb-model.

How much is your Bolero? Send me a message or something, with details :)

The trim for the centre console is the same for Bolero and Columbus!

How much is a Columbus worth? A-version with LED screen from 03/2010, V6+ map and GPS antenna?

Can't help with that one.

No it isn't, the columbus 'face' is smaller so you would need to change it.

I have seen them go on the bay for anything between £450-£550. But new they are 1500 quid! :o:thumbup:

Right, home now and had a chance to look at both pictures, and you are absolutely right, the top one will not fit the Octy, it seems to have an additional part at the bottom which mine doesn't have :S

If I were you, I would wait for a Octavia specific one to crop up, there are some on ebay.co.uk but tbh I think they are over priced, personally I would take Raglits up on his offer............if the price is right.
