Raising Mk1 4x4 Ground Clearance, adding sump guard

Featured Replies

I've done a google search but drawn ablank - a lot of sump guard references tend to be more vRS owners.

I've got myself a 4x4 1.8T and just added some winter tyres that have improved the performance in this weather we've been having (it's all ice round our way now and so far the car has glided effortlessly without a wince!).

I wondered if there were any simple alterations to the suspension that I could make to squeeze out a few more mm ground clearance and maybe buy something to guard the sump and underside of the car? The height is the only thing really letting it down now!!

Maybe someone knows of a link on here or somewhere they could send my way?

I thought that the 4x4 came with the metal sumpguard as standard?

Apparently if you fit Koni FSD's with standard springs it rises a little bit or so was told previously.

skoda sell it will be exactly the same as vrs its for the octavia series

about £200

Something worth noting is that I'm fairly sure that the metal sumpguard sits lower than the normal plastic undertray, so if your aim is to increase the ground clearance as much as possible then this may counter this effort . . . depends if you're likely to just run into powder snow or roots and rocks really. :)
