Alarm

Featured Replies

My alarm woke me up at four as it would not stop going off. I guess it's the weather (although only -4 on car computer) I have ended up disconnecting the battery but is there any reason/way to stop this? It's a 55 fabia vrs blt with completly standard alarm. It's now 5:36am, I am exhausted and can't get back to sleep :(

thanks everyone

Considering he time it went off it may be the battery indicating it's failing - by a voltage drop owing to the cold weather. I've also heard problems with the boot lock but why would this happen suddenly at that time? Have you any other indications the battery might be on the way out? Dimming lights - stiff steering etc?

Addendum - do you mean it went off and then wouldn't stop even when you pressed the remote or put the key in? If so that potentially takes the battery out of the equation thinking about it. Perhaps some contacts somewhere have got stiff and won't release. Hopefully today will be "relatively" warm so it might just sort itself out as it warms up?

Your a star mate! Yea I have the old dimming lights as a turn (not too bad, but noticble) and not it would go off then I would press the key fob and it would stop. Give it ten seconds and voilà, alarm sounding again!

If you've got someone local with VCDS they should be able to scan the convenience unit and see what the last 5 alarms were for..

I can plug it into vagcom tommoro as it goes so hopefully I can sort the problem from there. I can imagine the battery needing replacing as it hasn't been replaced since new. I do hope it's just that
